Hollerado and Rebel Emergency join Horseshoe Open, Ontario's largest ski and snowboard festival

BARRIE, ONTARIO, February 25, 2014Horseshoe, a Skyline Resort is gearing up to kick-off the fourth annual Horseshoe Open, Ontario’s largest ski and snowboard festival, March 7-9.

The three-day event, hosted by radio personality Todd Shapiro, will see Horseshoe Resort play host to some of North America’s best skiers and snowboarders alongside DJ showcases and concerts from celebrated Canadian indie rock band, Hollerado, Rebel Emergency and Anna Cyzon.

“This year Horseshoe Open is set to be our biggest and best yet,” said director of partnerships and events, Jonathan Reid. “With the inclusion of Slopestyle in this year’s Olympic Games we’re really looking forward to seeing what the athletes have in store for the Open.”
Throughout the weekend, skiers and snowboarders will compete in several events spanning the resort’s 29 ski runs and popular terrain park.
Events include Slopestyle, Rail Jam and big air, to be judged by members of the Canadian Snowboard Federation. New this year is the Grom category for ages 9 and under. With $30,000 in cash and prizing available as well as prizing from Oakley, Solomon, Bonfire and Marley’s Mellow Mood, skiers and snowboarders will be showing off their best tricks.

Saturday, guests can rally their friends and compete as a team in Spiked Ice Volleyball, a one-day pick-up winter volleyball game. Evening events will light up the sky with a professional Big Air competition alongside fireworks on the hill. Guests will cap off the weekend at the Coors Light Pro Rider after party with free performances from Hollerado, Rebel Emergency and Anna Cyzon all on the main stage at the base of the hill.

Registration for the Slopestyle, Rail Jam and Big Air events is $30 per event and participants are eligible for a discounted  lift ticket All events and concerts are open to the public.
